 Something special is happening in Scheveningen. The popular resort is getting ready for a major makeover. Over the next few years, work will be getting underway in Bad, Harbour and Village to create the new Scheveningen. First up, a brand new boulevard is being planned. In order to protect The Hague and the hinterland from the threat of future high water, a new dyke and a much wider beach is being created in Scheveningen. This is an innovative solution in which the dyke will be concealed under a new boulevard. A construction worthy of Dutch workmanship!
Top Spanish architect De Sola-Morales has produced a wonderful design. The new boulevard follows the original sloping dunes, thus merging naturally with the landscape. It is constructed on various levels, separating cars, cyclists and pedestrians as far as possible. The winding boulevard will make Bad, Village and Harbour feel more connected. The work on the boulevard is impressive in many respects. Certainly worth a visit!
